Mela Creative designed skincare brand packaging design for start-up skincare brand Nature Talk. The Australian made, all-natural product range was launched with Pomegranate serum and Green Clay & Matcha mask. The brief was to create a high-end look for this range that was to be sold predominantly online to the Australian and Asian markets.
We created a brand that is both timeless and modern using metallic finishes and a monochrome colour palette in the packaging design.
Designing within packaging limitations
Designing packaging is not just about the branding, it also takes into consideration the packaging substrate. In this case, we were given the metallic containers of different shapes and sizes that the product range would be packaged in before starting on the branding. This is one of the advantages of designing a brand identity for a start-up! We were able to incorporate the limitations of the packaging format into the brand identity for a completely seamless look.
The main challenge was to create labels to complement the highly reflective jar, bottle and syringe packs. A bespoke black typographic design incorporating a geometric icon from the letter “N” became fundamental to the branding and packaging design.
Choosing the right printing stock
By printing the labels on a metallic stock, the typographic branding stood out and the body of the label blended in with the container, giving a professional look. Extending beyond the containers, custom boxes were designed in complementing black and white design with a matt finish.
We decided to work with Mela Creative as they understood what we wanted and were just as passionate about our new venture as we were. They understood the cycle that start-ups go through, which was essential for us while setting up the business.
What we got from them however was much greater than what we signed up for!!
