Cenz Desserts: Branding for artisan dessert-maker

Vincenzo Currenti (aka Cenz), has spent his life surrounded by the hospitality and culinary world. After a while of working within the industry, Vincenzo decided focus on his passion for making great desserts and started Cenz Desserts to showcase his unique artisan skills.
Challenge: Use Colour to Create a Powerful Brand Identity
We created a bold and retro inspired brand for Cenz Desserts by using a soft pastel yellow, contrasted with an opposite and striking colour, electric blue. As well as developing the retro inspired logo, we developed a unique pattern that is used across all branding elements including the custom-made cake boxes, business cards and van decals.
Packaging Design
Cenz specialises in semifreddo, a traditional Italian dessert that is literally “half-cold”. Semifreddo is a delicious creamy textured “cake” that is somewhere between ice cream and mousse. It is served in slices at room temperature. Cenz required a cake box with a board that would be able to withhold temperature fluctuations as the product is stored in the freezer and needs to be defrosted before serving. Mela worked closely with Cenz to develop a box that not only looks great, but will also withstand the temperature and moisture changes when used by the end customer. Furthermore, the box is designed with a collapsing base to make it easy to remove the beautifully decorated semifreddo cake without damaging it.
Solution: Colourful Website design
Cenz desserts is an online only business so we designed an e-commerce website using the Squarespace platform. This makes the site maintenance-free and easy for the business-owner to operate. The wow-factor of the website design is the stylised product imagery – it all looks so delicious! We created a library of images for the website and social media from a full day photography shoot in our studio … which included a lot of cake eating!
